Answer:

The answer to your question is Molecular formula C₂H₄Br₂

                                                    Empirical formula  CH₂Br

Explanation:

Data

Carbon  12.8%

Hydrogen 2.1%

Bromine 85.1%

Empirical formula = ?

Molecular formula = 188 g/mol

Process

1.- Convert the percents to grams

Carbon  12.8 g

Hydrogen 2.1 g

Bromine 85.1 g

2.- Convert the grams to moles

Carbon

                            12 g ----------------- 1 mol

                             12.8 g --------------  x

                              x = (12.8 x 1) / 12

                              x = 1.07 mol

Hydrogen

                             1 g ------------------ 1 mol

                             2.1 g ---------------  x

                             x = (2.1 x 1)/1

                             x = 2.1 mol

Bromine

                             80 g ---------------- 1 mol

                             85.1 g -------------- x

                             x = (85.1 x 1)/80

                             x = 1.06

3.- Divide by the lowest number of moles

Carbon         1,07/1.06  = 1

Hydrogen      2.1/1.06 = 1.99 = 2

Bromine        1.06/1.06 = 1

4.- Write the empirical formula

                       CH₂Br

5.- Write the molecular formula

Calculate the molar mass of the empirical formula

CH₂Br = 12 + 2 + 80 = 94

Divide the molar mass by the molar mass of the empirical formula

                188/94 = 2

Multiply the empirical formula by two

               C₂H₄Br₂

hoa [83]

Answer:

A buffer solution is prepared by adding 13.74 g of sodium acetate (NaC2H3O2) and 15.36 g of acetic acid to enough water to make 500 mL of solution.

Calculate the pH of this buffer.

Explanation:

The pH of a buffer solution can be calculated by using the Henderson-Hesselbalch equation:

pH=pKa+log\frac{[salt]}{[acid]}

The pH of the given buffer solution can be calculated as shown below:

Balanced chemical reaction: 2CH₄(g) ⇄ C₂H₂(g) + 3H₂(g).

1) In a chemical reaction, chemical equilibrium is the state in which both reactants (methane CH₄) and products (ethyne C₂H₂ and hydrogen H₂) are present in concentrations which have no further tendency to change with time.

2) At equilibrium, both the forward and reverse reactions are still occurring.

3) Reaction rates of the forward and backward reactions are equal and  there are no changes in the concentrations of the reactants and products.

Identify the property of the matter described below.
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer: C.

Explanation: Alcohol floats on oil and water sinks in oil. Water, alcohol, and oil layer well because of their densities, but also because the oil layer does not dissolve in either liquid. The oil keeps the water and alcohol separated so that they do not dissolve in one another. ... Water sinks because it is more dense than oil.
