Answer:

4 ducks and 5 cows

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets assume that there are x number of ducks.

Since there are a total of 9 animals,

then, there must be (9 - x) number of cows.

Each duck has 2 legs and each cow has 4 legs.

So the total number of legs will be 2x + 4(9 - x).

We are told that there are 28 legs.

Therefore,

2x + 4(9 - x) = 28

2x + 36 - 4x = 28

- 2x = - 8

x = 4

ducks = 4

cows = 9 - 4 = 5

You buy the following materials for the new extension.
Daniel [21]

I assume you mean

2 tonnes of sand at £75.00 per tonne

20 bags of cement at £6.70 per bag

350 bricks at 45p each

If so, then

2 tonnes of sand at £75.00 per tonne = 2 * £75.00 = £150.00

20 bags of cement at £6.70 per bag = 20 * £6.70 = £134.00

350 bricks at 45p each = 350 * £0.45 = £157.50

Add the three amounts

£150.00 + £134.00 + £157.50 = £441.50

Answer: 441.50
