You are the pilot of a medical evacuation helicopter. At 5:30 am, you receive word that a passenger on a cruise ship fell seriou

sly ill and needs to be airlifted as quickly as possible to the nearest hospital. The cruise ship was 400 miles away from the nearest port, where your hospital is located, when the distress signal was sent, but it is making its way back to port at its maximum speed of 10 miles per hour.
Your helicopter’s fuel capacity is 6,600 pounds of fuel, and it burns 1,200 pounds of fuel per hour when it is airborne. The process of airlifting passenger takes 30 minutes. Federal regulations stipulate that all medical evacuation helicopter pilots need to plan to retain at least an hour’s worth of fuel at all times. If your helicopter flies at 150 miles per hour, at what time must you leave the hospital to get to the cruise ship passenger as quickly as possible?

Please show me your work! It doesn't have to be detailed.

Circles M and K are congruent, arc QR is congruent to arc LN and arc OP is congruent to arc VW. Find x.
SCORPION-xisa [38]

Given, arc QR is congruent to arc LN and arc OP is congruent to arc VW.

And the expressions for each arc in the diagram also given as:

Arc QR = 2x - y, arc LN = 11 , arc OP= 10 and arc VW=5x+y.

Hence, we will get the system of equations as following:

Arc QR = Arc LN

2x - y = 11 ...(1)

Arc OP = Arc VW

5x + y = 10 ...(2)

We need to find the value of x. So, we can add the equations to eliminate y so that we can solve the equations for x. Therefore,

2x+5x = 11 + 10

7x = 21

\frac{7x}{7} =\frac{21}{7} Divide each sides by 7.

So, x= 3

Hi Vance :)

a=leg unknow
b=leg
c=hypotenuse

a²+b²=c²
a²=c²-b²
a²=145² - 144²
a²=21,025 - 20,736
a²=289
a=√289
a=17

unknow leg = 17 units
