Law enforcement uses a quick and easy test to detect the presence of the illicit drug PCP by reacting it with potassium iodide.

The PCP will form a crystalline solid with a long branching needle-like structure with KI. What is the molarity of KI in a stock solution prepared by dissolving 390.1 g of KI to a total volume of 140.0 mL?

Answer:

16.79 M

Explanation:

Given data

  • Mass of KI (solute): 390.1 g
  • Volume of solution: 140.0 mL = 0.1400 L

First, we will calculate the moles of KI, considering its molar mass is 166.00 g/mol.

390.1 g × (1 mol/166.00 g) = 2.350 mol

The molarity of KI is:

M = moles of solute / liters of solution

M = 2.350 mol / 0.1400 L

M = 16.79 M

Only 235u can be used as fuel in a nuclear reactor, so uranium for use in the nuclear industry must be enriched in this isotope.
Yuki888 [10]

There are two isotopes of uranium abundant in nature

U235 and U238

As given that the sample has average molar mass of 237.482 amu

Let the amount of U235 in 100g sample = x

the amount of U238 in 100 g sample = 100-x

the average molar mass = [235(x) + 238 (100-x)] / 100

237.482  =  [235(x) + 238 (100-x)] / 100

237.482  X 100 =  [235(x) + 238 (100-x)]

23748.2 = 235 x + 23800 - 238x

51.8 = 3x

x = 17.27 g

So percentage of U-235 = 17.27 %

Which electrolyte is stronger, NaOH or Ca(OH)2? Why?
nataly862011 [7]

Answer:

NaOH

Explanation:

Look at charge Na has +1 charge and Ca has +2 charge after dissociation . Greater charge Stronger lattice. And as we need weak Lattice, so NaoH is stronger base than Ca(OH)2.
