Consider a box sitting in the back of a pickup. The pickup accelerates to the right, and because the bed of the pickup is sticky

, the box does not slide around the truck when this happens.What direction is the force acting on the box due to the truck?

Explanation:

In the frame of the truck, the box is not moving. The force on the box by the truck also acts in the direction of motion of the truck. But it does not move because of the frictional force acting on the box due to the sticky contact surface. Thus, the net force on the box in trucks reference frame is zero.

From outside, the net force acting on the box is in direction of acceleration of the truck i.e. in the right direction.

The pickup accelerates towards right. The box is sticky to the pickup, thus its acceleration is the same, towards right. Its inertia (force) is oposing the acceleration, thus it is towards left. For the box not to move, it is necessary that the truck acts on it with a force towards right. (The two forces of the truck on box and the box inertia (force) equilibrate themselves).

The line-emission spectrum of an atom is caused by the energies released when electrons
Paul [167]

Answer:

makes a transition from a high to a lower energy state

Explanation:

The emission spectrum is the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation emitted due to the transition from a state of high energy to a state of lower energy made by an electron in the atoms of the chemical element or compound. The emitted photons have an energy equal to the difference in energy between the two states.

Answer:

1. Collision- the sudden, forceful coming together in direct contact of two bodies

2. Newton's third law of motion is<em> naturally applied to collisions between two objects</em>. In a collision between two objects, both objects experience forces that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

3. Momentum is the product of a moving object's mass and velocity. When two objects collide the total momentum before the collision is equal to the total momentum after the collision

A researcher measures the thickness of a layer of benzene (nn = 1.50) floating on water by shining monochromatic light onto the
baherus [9]

Answer:

The minimum thickness is t= 8.75*10^{-8} m

Explanation:

generally the equation for thin film interference is mathematically represented as

            2nt = (m + \frac{1}{2} )  \lambda

Where t the  thickness

           m is any  integer

            n is the refractive index of the film

            \lambda is the wavelength of light

Since we are looking for the thickness we make t the subject of the  formula

          t = \frac{(m+ \frac{1}{2} ) \lambda}{2n}

m= 0 cause the thickness is minimum at m=0

   Substituting values

                    t = \frac{(0 +\frac{1}{2}) 8525*10^{-9} }{2 *1.5}

                       t= 8.75*10^{-8} m
