Two soccer players, Mia and Alice, are running as Alice passes the ball to Mia. Mia is running due north with a speed of 5.30 m/

s. The velocity of the ball relative to Mia is 3.60 m/s in a direction 30.0 degree east of south.
A)What is the magnitude of the velocity of the ball relative to the ground?

B) What is the direction of the velocity of the ball relative to the ground?

Answer:

A. 2.83 m/s

B. 39.55 degrees north of east

Explanation:

The velocity of the ball relative to the ground is the sum vectors of velocity of the ball relative to Mia and the velocity of Mia relative to the ground

If we take north east as positive direction then

Velocity vector of the ball relative to Mia is

=  =

Velocity of Mia relative to gorund is

<0, 5.3>

So velocity of the ball relative to the ground is

<1.8, -3.12> + <0, 5.3> = <1.8, 2.18>

Its magnitude is:

v = \sqrt{v_e^2 + v_n^2} = \sqrt{1.8^2 + 2.18^2} = \sqrt{3.24 + 4.7524} = \sqrt{7.9924} = 2.83  m/s

Its direction is

tan\alpha = \frac{v_e}{v_n} = \frac{1.8}{2.18} = 0.83

\alpha = tan^{-1}0.83 = 0.69 rad \approx 39.55 degrees  north of east

An uncharged capacitor is connected to a 21-V battery until it is fully charged, after which it is disconnected from the battery
attashe74 [19]

Answer:

The voltage bewtween the plates will be 9.5V

Explanation:

Facts:

The capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor having plate area A and plate separation d is C=ϵ0A/d.

Where ϵ0 is the permittivity of free space.

A capacitor filled with dielectric slab of dielectric constant K, will have a new capacitance C1=ϵ0kA/d

        C1=K(ϵ0A/d)

        C1=KC   ----------- 1

Where C is the capacitance with no dielectric and C1 is the capacitance with dielectric.

The new capacitance is k times the capacitance of the capacitor without dielectric slab.

This implies that the charge storing capacity of a capacitor increases k times that of the capacitor without dielectric slab.

Given points

• The terminal voltage of the battery to which the capacitor is connected to charge V=25V

• A dielectric slab of paraffin of dielectric constant K=2  is inserted in the space between the capacitor plates after the fully charged capacitor is disconnected

The charge stored in the original capacitor Q=CV

The charge stored in the original capacitor after inserting dielectric Q1=C1V1

The law of conservation of energy states that the energy stored is constant:

i.e Charge stored in the original capacitor is same as charge stored after the dielectric is inserted.

Q   =  Q1

CV = C1V1

  CV = C1V1  -------2

We derived C1=KC from equation 1. Inserting this into equation 2

   CV = KCV1

 V1 = (CV)/KC

         V/K

       = 21/2.2

      = 9.5

Why a raw egg shell disolves when submerge in vineger
quester [9]
If you soak this egg shell in vinegar (which is about 4% acetic acid), you start a chemical reaction that dissolves the calcium carbonate shell. The acetic acid reacts with the calcium carbonate in the egg shell and releases carbon dioxide gas that you see as bubbles on the shell.

What is the strategy you use to solve word problems in physics?
Inga [223]

Answer:

The strategy we would like you to learn has five major steps: Focus the Problem, Physics Description, Plan a Solution, Execute the Plan, and Evaluate the Solution. Let's take a detailed look at each of these steps and then do an sample problem following the strategy.

The accepted value for the density of iron is 7.87 g/cm3. a student records the mass of a 20.00 cm3 block of iron as 153.8 grams
dangina [55]
The density of an object can be calculated using the formula Density = Mass/Volume.

Experimental Density:

Density = 153.8g / 20.00 cm^3
Density = 7.69g/cm^3

Percent error equation:

% Error = | Theoretical Value - Experimental Value|/Theoretical Value * 100
% Error = | 7.87g/cm^3 - 7.69g/cm^3|/7.87g/cm^3 * 100
% Error = 2.29%

Therefore a is the correct answer.
