Since opening night, attendance at Play A has increased steadily, while attendance at Play B first rose and then fell. Equations

modeling the daily attendance y at each play are shown below, where x is the number of days since opening night. On what day(s) was the attendance the same at both plays? What was the attendance?
Play A: y = 8x + 191
Play B: y = -x^2 + 26x + 126

Answer:

On 5th day and 13th day Attendance was equal for both plays and it was

231 for each .

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to find same attendance ,we need  plug both equation equal

         -x^2+26x+126 = 8x+191

        -x^2+26x-8x+126-191 = 0

        -x^2 +18x-65 =0

      multiplying both sides by -1 ,we get

      x^2 -18x+ 65 =0

        (x-5) (x-13) =0

         x =5 and x =13

On 5th day and 13th  day attendance was same.

And attendance can be obtained by plugging x =5 in either of equation

 y = 8(5)+191

   = 40 +191

  = 231

Evaluate the expression below for s=2 and t=7
spayn [35]
First replace the letters with the numbers it gave so you have 3(2)(7)^2-(2)^2

multiply the 3 and 2 together to make 6(7)^2-(2)^2

do seven to the second power (7x7) so you get 6(49)-(2)^2

-(2)^2 is the same as -1(2)^2, so that can just become -2^2. so you now have 6(49)-2^2

multiply 6x49 so you have 294-2^2

do two to the second power (2x2) so you get 294-4

294-4=290

(X-2)^2 if necessary combine like terms
kakasveta [241]

Answer:

x^{2} - 4x + 4

Step-by-step explanation:

(x-2) × (x-2)

(x × x) + (x × -2) + (-2 × x) + (-2 × -2)

(x^{2}) + (-2x) + (-2x) + (4)

x^{2}- 2x - 2x + 4

x^{2} - 4x + 4

(Algebra II) Extra points!!Determine whether y varies directly with x
ludmilkaskok [199]

Answer:

  • k = 1.6
  • y = 1.6x

Step-by-step explanation:

If the variation is proportional dividing the y-value by the x-value will give the same result for all table entries. That quotient is the constant of variation (k).

Here 6.4/4 = 11.2/7 = 16/10 = 20.8/13 = 1.6

The value of y varies directly as x, and the constant of variation is 1.6. The equation is ...

  y = 1.6x
