An exothermic reaction is one that, through either light or heat, releases energy.

It can be expressed simply as:

reactants --> products + energy

The potential energy at the end of the reaction is always lower than at the beginning of the reaction.

An endothermic reaction is a reaction that absorbs energy from its surroundings.

It is essentially reactants + energy ----> products.

Hope this helps,

Brian

A 275-mL flask contains pure helium at a pressure of 752 torr. A second flask with a volume of 475 mL contains pure argon at a p
hichkok12 [17]

Answer:

  • Partial pressure He = 276 torr
  • Partial pressure Ar = 457 torr
  • Total pressure = 733 torr

Explanation:

Assuming temperature remains constant, we can use Boyle's law to solve this problem: P₁V₁=P₂V₂.

Once the two flasks are connected and the stopock opened, the total volume is:

  • 275 + 475 = 750 mL

Now we use Boyle's law twice, to calculate the new pressure of each gas:

  • He ⇒ 752 torr * 275 mL = P₂He * 750 mL

P₂He = 276 torr

  • Ar ⇒ 722 torr * 475 mL = P₂Ar * 750 mL

P₂Ar = 457 torr

Finally we calculate the total pressure, adding the partial pressures:

  • Total pressure = P₂He + P₂Ar = 733 torr

What is a boundary between geologic units?
Airida [17]
The answer to this question is Contact
depending on the geological event that put into place, this will have a specific semantic value.
A contact usually represented by different kind of lines on the geological map and usually use to determine where rocks come into contact across fault zones

There are ________ σ bonds and ________ π bonds in h3c-ch2-ch=ch-ch2-c≡ch.
FrozenT [24]
The number of sigma and pi bonds are,

          Sigma Bonds  =  16

          Pi Bonds         =   3

Explanation:
                   Every first bond formed between two atoms is sigma. Pi bond is formed when already a sigma bond is there. While in case of Alkyne (triple Bond) there is one sigma and one pi bond already present, so the third bond is formed by second side-to-side overlap of orbitals, hence, a second pi bond is formed.
Below all black bonds are sigma bonds, while in alkene there is one pi bond and in alkyne there are two pi bonds.
