This is simply an addition problem since sales tax does not need to be calculated.

Book 1= $21.95
Book 2= $4.95
Book 3= $5.95
Postage & Handling= $3.50

Total= Book1 + Book2 + Book3 + P&H

Total= 21.95 + 4.95 + 5.95 + 3.50

Total= $36.35

ANSWER: The total for all three books is $36.35.

Hope this helps! :)

A 10-ounce box of cereal cost $3. A 20-ounce box of the same cereal cost $5. A third box of the same cereal costs $8.
kvasek [131]

The number of ounces of cereal in the third box is 32.

<u>Explanation:</u>

Given-

10 oy box = $3

Price of 1 ounce box = $3/10

                                  = $0.3

20 oy box = $5

Price of 1 oy box = $5/20

                            = $0.25

Therefore, it is beneficial to buy a 20 oy box as it is comparatively cheaper than the 10 oy box.

Third box of cereal = $8

$5 is the price of 20 oy box

$8 will be the price of x oy box

So,

x = \frac{20}{5} X 8\\ \\x = 32

Therefore, the number of ounces of cereal in the third box is 32.

14. Team 8A is selling snacks at the football game to raise money for a field trip. They are selling popcorn for $2.50 and pretz
Mamont248 [21]

Answer:

  • 40 popcorns and 90 pretzels sold.

============

Let the number of popcorns is x and pretzels is y.

Set up equations:

  • x + y = 130
  • 2.5x + 2y = 280

Solve by elimination, multiply the first equation by 2 and subtract from the second equation:

  • 2.5x + 2y - 2x - 2y = 280 - 2*130
  • 0.5x = 280 - 260
  • 0.5x = 20
  • x = 20/0.5
  • x = 40

Find y:

  • 40 + y = 130
  • y = 130 - 40
  • y = 90

Solnce55 [7]
Set the two expressions equal to each other.

7x + 3 = 9x

Simplify, isolate the x, subtract 7x from both sides

7x (-7x) + 3 = 9x (-7x)
3 = 2x

Set the equation = 0, subtract 3 from both sides

3 (-3) = 2x (-3)

0 = 2x - 3

2x - 3, or D, should be your answer

hope this helps
