<span>Rain water becomes gorund water by the process of infilatration. Water seeps down the layers of soil and becomes available for its use for other purposes including irrigation. Once soil becomes saturated, rate of infiltration decreases. The rate is measured as inches per hour/milimitres per hour.</span>
