WILL MARK BRAINLIEST Which expression is equivalent to −1.3 + (−4.9 ) + (−2.6) ?
Furkat [3]
You can remove the first plus sign to give:
-1.3 -4.9 [ because + x - = - ]
and by the same rule you can remove the the second plus sign to give
-1.3 -4.9 - 2.6
That means option b is out because it is positive.
straight away we can see that option D. equals the result, so it is in the running, so now can we eliminate c and a?
we can eliminate a because the minus ign outside the bracket multiplied by -4.9 inside the bracket produces + 4.9, which is not the answer, so that only leaves c.
once again, a plus sign outside the bracket does not produce -4.9 when muliplied by 4.9 inside the bracket inside option c, so we can eliminate option c.

The ratio of the side lengths of a quadrilateral is 2:3:5:6 and its perimeter is 48 cm. What is the length of the longest side?
Alex17521 [72]
The side lengths are given in proportions which are 2:3:5:6. The perimeter is given as the sum of all the sides which is given as 48 cm. Using ratio and proportion, the sum of all the sides or the perimeter is proportional to the sum of all the fractions and the largest fraction is proportional to the longest side of the quadrilateral.

Let x be the longest side of the quadrilateral. The largest proportion is 6.
6/(2+3+5+6) = 6/16
6/16 = x/48

x= 18 cm. The longest side is 18 cm. The other sides are 6, 9, 15 using the other proportions.

The area of the shaded region shown in the figure is 80π unit²

What is an equation?

An equation is an expression that shows the relationship between two or more variables and numbers.

Area of the shaded region = area of semicircle IL - area of semicircle JK + area of semicircle IJ + area of semicircle KL

Area of the shaded region = area of semicircle IL + area of semicircle IJ = (0.5 * π * 12²) + (0.5 * π * (12/3)²) = 80π

The area of the shaded region shown in the figure is 80π unit²

The average starting salary for this year's graduates at a large university (LU) is $30,000 with a standard deviation of $6,000.
omeli [17]

Answer:

0.82% of the graduates will receive the tax break

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed samples can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this problem, we have that:

\mu = 30000, \sigma = 6000

What percentage of the graduates will receive the tax break

This is the pvalue of Z when X = 15600. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{15600 - 30000}{6000}

Z = -2.4

Z = -2.4 has a pvalue of 0.0082

0.82% of the graduates will receive the tax break
