So Pythagorean triples will always work with Pythagoras theorem which is a^2 + b2 = c^2 where c is the hypotenuse. So the biggest number (15) will be the hypotenuse so you must do (9^2) + (12^2) and if it is a triple you will get 15^2 so you do 81 + 144 which is 255 and 15^2 is 255 so therefore it is a Pythagorean triple because the numbers satisfy the equation. Hope this helps :)

Ahmad drove 638 miles in 11 hours. At the same rate, how long would it take him to drive 522 miles?
ikadub [295]
It would take him 9 hours to drive 522 miles since if you divide 638 with 11 you would get 58 and if you divide 522 with 58 you'll get 9.

two comets orbit the Sun. One comet travels 30,000 miles per hour and the other comet travels 28,500 miles per hour. What is the
GenaCL600 [577]

The difference of the distances traveled by the comets for any given number of minutes is 25t.

Since the first comet travels at a speed of 30,000 miles per hour, the distance it travels in t minutes is d = 30000 mph × 1 h/60 min × t = 500t miles.

Also, the second comet travels at a speed of 28,500 miles per hour, the distance it travels in t minutes is d' = 28,500 mph × 1 h/60 min × t = 475t miles.

So, the difference in the distances traveled by the comets D = d - d'

= 500t - 475t

= 25t

So, the difference of the distances traveled by the comets for any given number of minutes is 25t.

Line RS bisects PQ at point R. Find RQ if PQ=14 centimeters.
Tema [17]

Since RS bisects PQ at point R, then R is the midpoint of PQ.

PQ = 14 given

PR = RQ definition of midpoint

PR + RQ = PQ segment addition postulate

RQ + RQ = PQ substituted PR with RQ

2RQ = PQ simplified (added like terms)

2RQ = 14 substituted PQ with 14

RQ = 7 divided both sides by 2
