Given the function g(x) = -x^2+ 2x + 8, determine the average rate of change of

Mathematics
1 answer:

3 0

Answer:

3

Step-by-step explanation:

The average rate of change of g(x) in the closed interval [ a, b ] is

\frac{g(b)-g(a)}{b-a}

Here [ a, b ] = [ - 3, 2 ], thus

g(b) = g(2) = - 2² + 2(2) + 8 = - 4 + 4 + 8 = 8

g(a) = g(- 3) = - (- 3)² + 2(- 3) + 8 = - 9 - 6 + 8 = - 7

average rate of change = \frac{8-(-7)}{2-(-3)} = \frac{15}{5} = 3

I NEED YOUR HELP!
Use the net to find the lateral area of the prism.

Answer: m^2
egoroff_w [7]
Ok, to solve this, once again you need to fold this map back up into a 3d shape ( in your head).
What you should see is that the little overhanging sides that had no measurement, now have a measurement. They measure up to be the same as the 3m. sides.
so to find the area of all the rectangles, you need to multiply the base times height. (b)h
I will start from the left of your pic. and work my way to the right...not including the little overhanging ones.
The first one should measure out to be 3(15) =45
The second to be 6(15) =90
The third to be 3(15) =45
The fourth to be 6(15) =90 :)
So you have these, but now you need to get the little over hangers I call them...lol.
The width is 6, same as the rectangle they are attached to. And the picture in your mind should tell you that the height is 3, the same as the width of the skinny rectangles that they attach to in your mind.
Soooo now they measure out to be 3(6) =18. and you just multiply this by two because they are the same area, right? So that would be 36.
ok. Now add all of the areas of the surfaces 45+90+45+90+36 to get a total surface area of.... *drummel please* 306m^2
this means 306m. to the power of 2 if you didn't know.
well, I hope you understand better and I hope I helped! ;)

Find the area and perimeter of compound shape. Please help
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:

A=140m² and P=54m

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to find the perimeter or area, we are going to first need to find the lenghts of the missing sides. There are two of them, we are going to refer to one as the shorter one and the other as the longer one.

Shorter One = 12-8

Shorter One = 4

Longer One = 15-5

Longer One = 10

From this we can then add the side lengths to find the perimeter of the figure.

Perimeter=5+15+12+8+4+10

Perimeter=20+20+14

Perimeter=54

The perimeter of the figure is 54m, therefore we can eliminate two of the answer choices.

Next, we need to find the area of the figure. The easiest way is to cut the figure into two pieces, I chose to do it by cutting a long rectangle, and then add their areas together.

A=(5*12)+(10*8)

A=60+80

A=140

Therefore the correct answer choice is A=140m² and P=54m
