Answer:

Hey there!

A "flip" can be considered a reflection.

A "spin" is a rotation.

A "slide" is a translation.

None of these transformations change the way a shape looks, or the size of the shape. They only change how the shape is oriented.

Let me know if this helps :)

Five hundred yards of fence is to be used to enclose a rectangular area next to a straight river. The river bank acts as one sid
fenix001 [56]

Answer:

the requirements are missing:

  1. express the height of the rectangle in terms of w
  2. express the area of the rectangle in terms of w

1) the height of the rectangle is:

w + h + h + w = 500 + w

2w + 2h = 500 + w

2h = 500 + w - 2w = 500 - w

h = (500 - w) / 2 = 250 - 0.5w

2) the are of the rectangle is:

w x h = w x (250 - 0.5w) = 250w - 0.5w²

Does a trend line always pass through every point on a scatter plot?
forsale [732]
No, it does not and it's not supposed to.  A trend line is drawn to go through in the best way possible, to go through the "center" of the points as best as it can.  It may hit some of the points, but not all of them.  Generally, the idea is to try to get the trend line to have as many points "above" it as it does "below" it to say you've gone through them evenly.

The sum of two numbers is 9 . one number is nine less than twice the other. find the two numbers.
dimulka [17.4K]
Hello!

To solve this problem, we will use a system of equations. We will have one number be x and the other y. We will use substitutions to solve for each variable.

x+y=9
x=2y-9

To solve for the two numbers, we need to solve the top equation. The second equation shows that x=2y-9. In the first equation, we can replace 2y-9 for x and solve.

2y-9+y=9
3y-9=9
3y=18
y=6

We now know the value of y. Now we need to find x. We can plug in 6 for y in the second equation to find x.

x=2·6-9
x=12-9
x=3

Just to check, we will plug these two numbers into the first equation.

3+6=9
9=9

Our two numbers are three and six.

I hope this helps!
