It is found in all silicate minerals (ie. amphibole, olivine, pyroxene, quartz, feldspar, etc.). The silica tetrahedra may be arranged in chains (ex: pyroxenes), double chains (ex. amphiboles), sheets (ex: micas), and frameworks (ex: quartz, feldspars), forming the basic structure of the planet.
