iogann1982 [59]

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

The bacteria can undergo cell differentiation in response to the environmental conditions.

The oxidative stress, antibiotic exposure, stress conditions are some of the external conditions due to which the bacterial cell can respond in the cell differentiation.

The bacterial species can divide based in the conditions in which they are put. So it is true that under stress conditions the bacterial cell can undergo cell differentiation.

Which chromosomal defect is caused when part of a chromosome breaks off and reattaches backward on the same chromosome?
LiRa [457]

The right answer is inversion.

Inversion is a genetic mutation characterized by the end-to-end reversal of a portion of chromatid on a chromosome.

In other words, it is a double break then it is replaced after rotation of 180 ° of a chromosome segment (backward insertion).

We distinguish :

Paracentric inversions:  The centromere in the chromosome is not included in the inversion.

Pericentric inversions:  The centromere is included in the inversion which transforms a metacentric chromosome into an acrocentric chromosome.

How does prokaryotic transcription and translation differ from these processes in eukaryotic cells?
daser333 [38]

A

Explanation:

The genome of prokaryotes has no introns hence their mRNA does not need splicing like in eukaryotic cells. Also, because the genome of prokaryotes is not delimited from the cytoplasm by a nuclear membrane, ribosomes can attach to the elongating mRNA during transcription and begin translation. Therefore translation of mRNA occurs concurrently with transcription which cannot happen with eukaryotic cells.

In the nucleus of eukaryotic cells, transcription results to a nascent mRNA which is spliced into a mature mRNA.The mature mRNA has to travel outside the nucleus to the cytoplasm to be translated by ribosomes.
