The total number of stereoisomers of 1,2-difluoro-1,2-dimethylcyclopentane is \boxed3 and for the structures refer to the image attached.

Further Explanation:

Concept:

To determine the total stereoisomers of 1,2-difluoro-1,2-dimethylcyclopentane we use the formula given below.

\boxed{{\text{Number of stereoisomers}} = {{\text{2}}^{\text{n}}} - 1}                                                                               ......(1)

Where, n denotes the total number of chiral center present in the molecule.

Solution:

In 1,2-difluoro-1,2-dimethylcyclopentane, there are 2 chiral centers present in the molecule therefore, the value of n is equal to 2.

Substitute the value of n in the equation (1).

\begin{gathered}{\text{Number of stereoisomers}} = {{\text{2}}^{\text{n}}} - 1 \\= {{\text{2}}^{\left( 2 \right)}} - 1 \\=3 \\ \end{gathered}

Therefore, the total number of stereoisomers of 1,2-difluoro-1,2-dimethylcyclopentane is 3.

Wedge bonds are the bonds that are pointed towards the viewer while dash bonds are the bonds that are pointed away the viewer. Line bonds are present in the plane of paper.

The stereoisomers of 1,2-difluoro-1,2-dimethylcyclopentane are as follows(Refer to the image attached):

1. In first stereoisomer structure, both methyl groups are attached at the C-1 and C-2 position by wedge bonds and both F atoms by dash bonds or vice-versa. Both are the same stereoisomer.

2. In second stereoisomer structure, methyl group is attached at C-1 position by dash bond and methyl group is attached at C-2 carbon by wedge bond. Therefore, F atom is attached at C-1 position by wedge bond and F atom is attached at C-2 position by dash bond.

3. In third stereoisomer structure, methyl group is attached at C-1 position by wedge bond and methyl group is attached at C-2 carbon by dash bond. Therefore, F atom is attached at C-1 position by dash bond and F atom is attached at C-2 position by wedge bond.

The three isomers of 1,2-difluoro-1,2-dimethylcyclopentane are shown. To distinguish the three isomers we can assign the stereocenters as either R or S. Moving from left to right, the first compound has the stereocenters (1R, 2S). The compound in the middle has stereocenters (1R, 2R). The third compound on the right has stereocenters (1S, 2S). It is possible to draw what appears to be another stereoisomers with stereocenters (1S, 2R), however, this compound is a meso-compound and is identical to (1R, 2S). So there are only three unique stereoisomers of 1,2-difluoro-1,2-dimethylcyclopentane.

Calculate the ratio of the mass ratio of SS to OO in SOSO to the mass ratio of SS to OO in SO2SO2. Consider a sample of SOSO in
Veronika [31]

Answer:

The ratio of the mass ratio of S to O; in SO, to the mass ratio of S to O; in SO₂, is  2:1

Explanation:

According to the consideration, let us first find the ratio of S and O in both the compounds

For SO:

\frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }= \frac{32}{16}\\\\ \frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }= 2

Let us express it as

SO_{\frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }} = 2

For SO₂,

Due to two oxygen atoms in the molecule, the mass of oxygen will be taken two times

\frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }= \frac{32}{(2)(16)}\\\\ \frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }= 1

Let us express it as

SO_2_{\frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }}= 1

Now, for the ratio of both the above-calculated ratios,

\frac{SO_{\frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }}}{SO_2_{\frac{m_{S} }{m_{O} }}}=\frac{2}{1}

The required ratio is 2:1

Why are salt and sugar both able to dissolve in water, even though the solutes have different types of chemical bonding? everyth
Bas_tet [7]

Sucrose and other simple sugars may dissolve in water because they are polar molecules with an unequal charge distribution. Water is also quite polar, capable of forming weak, temporary connections with other polar compounds.

Salt dissolves into ions, with Na being positively charged and CL being negatively charged. Because water is highly polar (parts of the molecule are negatively charged while others are positively charged), the sodium ions are surrounded by water molecules, with the negatively charged component of the water molecules surrounding the NA ion. The Cl ion experiences the inverse effect.

<h3>How does salt dissolve in water compared to sugar?</h3>

A solution's solute and solvent are two different types of substances that can dissolve one another. Different solvents have different levels of solubility for different solutes. For instance, sugar is far more soluble in water than salt. Even sugar, though, has a limit on how much may dissolve.

Write the difference between the reaction of Calcium and Aluminium with water.
guapka [62]

Answer:

Both gives hydroxides, but

Calcium reacts with water to give calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2. this product is slightly soluble in water.

Aluminium  is less reactive than Ca, so it reacts with only steam, to give aluminium hydroxide Al(OH)3. This product is insoluble in water.
