With the given information you can find the initial and final mechanical energies. Then we can verify the conservation of it.

1) Initially the ball is at rest 1 m over the ground, then its mechanical energy is only potential energy = m*g*h = 2kg * 9.8m/s^2 * 1m = 19.6 joule

2) When the ball is above to hit the ground, its mechanical energy is only kinetic energy = [1/2]m*v^2 = [1/2]2kg*(4.4m/s)^2 = 19.4 joule

Those results, taken into account that the measures have some errors (for example the exact velocity of the ball when it reaches de floor is quite difficult to measure) confirm the conservation of the energy.

Then, the answer is the option B. The mechanical energy is conserved

A 1.0-kg block of aluminum is at a temperature of 50 Celsius. How much thermal energy will it lose when it’s temperature is redu
Ipatiy [6.2K]

Answer:

The lose of thermal energy is, Q = 22500 J

Explanation:

Given data,

The mass of aluminium block, m = 1.0 kg

The initial temperature of block, T = 50° C

The final temperature of the block, T' = 25° C

The change in temperature, ΔT = 50° C - 25° C

                                                     = 25° C

The specific heat capacity of aluminium, c = 900 J/kg°C

The formula for thermal energy,

                             Q = mcΔT

                                 = 1.0 x 900 x 25

                                 = 22500 J

Hence, the lose of thermal energy is, Q = 22500 J

An electron moving in the direction of the +x-axis enters a magnetic field. If the electron experiences a magnetic deflection in
Gnom [1K]

Answer:

-z axis

Explanation:

According to the left hand rule for an electron in a magnetic field, hold the thumb of the left hand at a right angle to the rest of the fingers, and the rest of the fingers parallel to one another. If the thumb represents the motion of the electron, and the other fingers represent the direction of the field, then the palm will push in the direction of the force on the electron. In this case, the left hand will be held out with the thumb pointing to the right (+x axis), and the palm facing your body (-y axis). The magnetic field indicated by the other fingers will point down in the the -z axis.
