What changes the boiling point of different alkanes?
mote1985 [20]

Answer:

Therefore, the boiling points of the alkanes increase with molecular size. For isomers, the more branched the chain, the lower the boiling point tends to be. Van der Waals dispersion forces are smaller for shorter molecules and only operate over very short distances between one molecule and its neighbors.

The boiling points of the normal alkanes increase with increasing molecular weight (Table 3.3). As the molecular weight increases, London forces increase because more atoms are present to increase the surface area or the molecules.

The concentration of sugar in a soft drink is measured to be 10.5%. how many grams of sugar are in 125 g of the drink?
viva [34]
The grams  of the sugar in 125 g of the drink is calculated as below

%M/m) = mass of the solute (sugar)/  mass of the  solvent(drink) x100

let the mass  of the solute(sugar) be represented by y

convert % into fraction by dividing by 100 = 10.5/100

10.5/100 = y/125

by cross multiplication

100y =1312.5
divide both side by 100

y=13.125  grams

A scientist notices that a lump of niobium is warm to the touch and wonders if nuclear reactions are taking place in the metal.
sertanlavr [38]

Answer is: Check for the presence of alpha, beta, and gamma particles.

1) Alpha particle is nucleus of a helium-4 atom, which is made of two protons and two neutrons.

Alpha decay is radioactive decay in which an atomic nucleus emits an alpha particle (helium nucleus) and transforms into an atom with an atomic number that is reduced by two and mass number that is reduced by four.

2) Beta decay is radioactive decay in which a beta ray and a neutrino are emitted from an atomic nucleus.

There are two types of beta decay: beta minus and beta plus.

3) During gamma emission the nucleus emits radiation without changing its composition.
