Answer: the boy won 10 games

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's call B as the number of games won by the boy, and F as the number of games won by the father.

We know that, there is a total of 26 games:

B + F = 26.

We know that in each game won by the boy, he wins 8 cents, for every game that the father wins, the boy losses 5 cents, and we know that at the end of the 26 games, the boy did not win or lose any money, so we have:

B*8 + F*(-5) = 0.

Then we have a system of equations:

B + F = 26

8*B - 5*F = 0.

The first step is isolating one of the variables. Let's start isolating F in the first equation:

B + F = 26

F = 26 - B.

Now we can replace this in the second equation:

8*B - 5*F = 0

8*B - 5*(26 - B) = 0

8*B + 5*B - 5*26 = 0

13*B = 5*26

B = 5*26/13 = 5*2 = 10

So the boy won 10 games (then the father won the other 16 games)

For each of the following situations, indicate what the general impact on the Type II error probability will be:
Paraphin [41]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

The type II error is committed when you fail to reject a false null hypothesis.

The probability associated with this type of error is symbolized as β.

a. The alpha level is increased.

α and β are two probabilities that are closely related in such a way that if alpha is decreased, beta automatically increases and vice versa when the sample size n is predetermined.

If you increase α then the probability of committing type II error (β) decreases.

b. The "true" population mean is moved farther from the hypothesized population mean.

If the true population mean is moved away from its hypothesized value, then the probabilities of "keeping" a false null hypothesis are bigger.

c. The alpha level is decreased.

This is the inverse situation from a. If you decrease α then, β is automatically increased.

d. The sample size is increased.

If the sample size "n" is left free, it can be shown that by increasing the sample size, both α and β decrease. In practice, α is fixed and β is calculated with several possible sizes of n. Finally choosing as sample size the one that minimizes or gives a reasonable value of β.

I hope it helps!

Show the number on a number line:<br> -12 ÷ 4 =
Gwar [14]

Answer:

well if we take -12 and divide it by four we will get -3.

Step-by-step explanation:

If we have a total of negative 12, just divide it by 4 and the difference between each division is the sum.

Your answer will be -3 on the number line.

Which function has the same y-intercept as the function y equals 2/3 x - 3
aleksley [76]

We have the function y = \frac{2}{3} x -3 and we want to find a function that has the same y-intercept than the previous function.

First, let's find the y-intercept by subtituting 0 for 'x'.

y = \frac{2}{3} (0) -3 = -3

Now that we found that y-intercept =-3, any lineal function of the type: y = ax - 3 will have the same y-intercept. Where 'a' can take all the real values.

Also, any quadratic function of the type: y=ax^{2} + bx - 3 will have the same y-intercept. Where 'a' and 'b' can take all the real values.
