What is the pOH of a 0.00037 M solution of barium hydroxide
ruslelena [56]

Answer: pOH = 3.13

Ba(OH)2 is a very basic substance. The general formula for pOH is - log(OH)

Barium Hydroxide produces 2 moles of OH for every mole of Ba(OH)2 present in the solution.

0.00037 M = 3.7 * 10^-4 Ba(OH)2 will produce 2 *0.00037 M of OH-

OH- = 2* 0.00037 = 0.00074

pOH = - log(0.00074) = 3.13

4. Solvent: the component of a solution which is pr3esent in larger quantity. For example, water

5. Solution: A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances. For example brass.

6. Mixture: When two or more compounds or elements mix up physically they from a mixture.

7. Colloid: Solutions in which particles are large and possess the characteristics of the Tyndall effect. For example milk.

8. Dissociation: the splitting of a molecule into smaller molecules is called dissociation.

9. Pure substance: A pure substance is a type of matter having definite properties.

10. Suspension: Suspensions are heterogeneous mixtures of undissolved particles. For example milk of magnesia.

What is the final pressure (expressed in atm) of a 3.05 L system initially at 724 mm Hg and 298 K, that is compressed to a final
maksim [4K]

Hey there!:

V1 = 3.05 L

V2 = 3.00 L

P1 = 724 mmHg

P2 = to be calculated

T1 = 298 K

T2 = 273 K

Therefore:

P1*V1  / T1  = P2*V2 / T2

P2 = ( P1*V1 / T1  )   * T2 / V2

P2 = 724 * 3.05 * 273 / 298 * 3.00

P2 = 602838.6 / 894

P2 = 674.31 mmHg

1 atm ----------- 760 mmHg

atm ------------- 674.31 mHg

= 674.31 * 1 / 760

= 0.887 atm

Hope this helps!
