X = Heather's age NOW
x - 2 = her age 2 years ago
x - 3 = her age 3 years ago

\frac{1}{2}(x-2)+\frac{1}{3}(x-3)=20

The Least Common Multiple of 2 and 3 is 6.  Multiply both sides by 6.

6\cdot\frac{1}{2}(x-2)+6\cdot\frac{1}{3}=6\cdot20 \\3(x-2)+2(x-3)=120 \\ 3x-6+2x-6=120 \\ 5x-12=120 \\ 5x=132 \\ x=\frac{132}{5}=26.4

For g(x)=x^2-x find g(x) when x=-2
torisob [31]

Answer:

g(x) = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Begin with substuting the x variable with -2, we do this because the question has listed the value of x already.

Using the value of x, -2 we determine g(x).

g(x) = -2^2 + 2

Above is what the equation would look as, after you input the value of -2.

Using pemdas, (parantheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) solve the equation.

-2^2 = 4

Think of it as -2 * -2, which is why -2^2 is 4.

Add 4 +2.

4 + 2 = 6.

Therefore, the value of g(x) = 6

Which of the following is a radical equation?<br> x√3=13<br> x+3√3=13<br> √x+3=13<br> x+3=√13
Shtirlitz [24]
The answer would be: <span>√x+3=13

</span>A radical equation is an equation with at least one variable put on a radical form. In this question, there is only one kind of variable which is x. Then, you need to find the equation where x is in the radical form. The radical form can be expressed with square root symbol.
The option with √x would be only <span>√x+3=13
</span>

A photographer is planning to enlarge a photograph by a scale factor of 1:5 . The original photograph has an area of 154 square
uranmaximum [27]
Whenever you are given a scale factor, that factor will apply to each dimension and because area is a two dimensional measurement, you multiply the area by 5 twice (so x5 x5). This means the new area would be 154x5^2. The new area of the photograph is 3850 square inches.

4x + 2y = 8 16x - y = 14
lys-0071 [83]
Equation 1)  4x + 2y = 8
Equation 2)  16x - y = 14

Multiply all of equation 2 by 2.

2)  2(16x - y = 14)

2)  32x - 2y = 28
1)  4x + 2y = 8

Add equations together.

36x = 36

Divide both sides by 36.

x = 1

Plug in 1 for x in the first equation.

4x + 2y = 8

4(1) + 2y = 8

4 + 2y = 8

Subtract 4 from both sides.

2y = 8 - 4

2y = 4

Divide both sides by 2.

y = 4/2

y = 2

So, x = 1, y = 2
