20 \times  \dfrac{1}{4}  = 5

no. of pieces of jelly beans = 3/4 × 20

= 3 × 5

= 15

hence, 15 pieces of jelly beans Erika purchased.

therefore gum she bought = 20 - 15 = 5

she bought 5 pieces gums.
