Womens' clubs in major cities grew "Victory Gardens" in 1917 and 1918 to provide assistance to the efforts in World War I. In 1917 and 1918, because of the war, there were a lot of people that couldn't attend their jobs because they were assigned to go to war, that being mostly men. A lot of people were recruited to the war, mostly workers for agriculture, and couldn't do their job. Since there were so many people getting sent to war, they needed to supply a lot of food, which they had a hard time of doing. Since most of the agriculture workers went to war, they couldn't make food for the soldiers, so the soldiers couldn't get any food to keep them from starving. A person named Charles Lathrop Pack started a moving where people get land and make gardens to grow food for the soldiers, and they did that. Mostly women worked in these gardens to produce fruits and vegetables for the soldiers in war. After WWI, they would name these gardens that were used to make food as "Victory Gardens." The Victory Gardens is one of the things that assisted soldiers in WWI.

How could engels back ground have affected his assessment of manchester? How might a description of the city written by a factory
GaryK [48]

Answer:Friedrich Engels was a philosopher and a communist. He saw history as a series of struggles between two social classes. He saw the development of factories and the rise of mass production as the paradigm of social abuse. He also believed that the masses that worked in these factories were alienated from the product of their labor, and that they lacked political and social power.

A factory owner would have likely seen things differently. He would have probably been happy about the rapid rate of industrialization during this time period. He would have also defended his position as owner of the means of production. Finally, it is likely that he would have seen his relationship with his employees as a fair one.

It says:  "for among all nations it may be remarked that masters have the power of life and death over their slaves, and that everything acquired by the slave is acquired for the master." and "But at the present day none of our subjects may use unrestrained violence towards their slaves, except for a reason recognized by law." So from that we can draw the conclusion that "<span>Masters were allowed to kill their own slaves, if they had a reason for doing so." (B) is correct.</span>
