Cost of 1 notebook is $ 1.85 and cost of 1 pen is $ 0.65

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Let "a" be the cost of 1 notebook

Let "b" be the cost of 1 pen

Given that John spent $10.65 on 4 notebooks and 5 pens

cost of 1 notebook x 4 + cost of 1 pen x 5 = 10.65

4a + 5b = 10.65 ------ eqn 1

Given that Ariana spent $7.50 on 3 notebooks and 3 pens

3a + 3b = 7.50 ----- eqn 2

Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2 to get the values of "a" and "b"

Multiply eqn 1 with 3

12a + 15b = 31.95  ---- eqn 3

Multiply eqn 2 with 4

12a + 12b = 30 ------ eqn 4

Subtract eqn 4 from eqn 3

12a + 15b = 31.95

12a + 12b = 30

(-) ---------------------

3b = 1.95

b = 0.65

Substitute b = 0.65 in eqn 1

4a + 5(0.65) = 10.65

4a = 7.4

a = 1.85

Thus cost of 1 notebook is $ 1.85 and cost of 1 pen is $ 0.65

The graph shows the system y=2x+1 y=2x^2+1 Which ordered pairs are solutions of the system?
zhenek [66]
Hey!

To solve this problem, we would really have to graph both equations.

<em>OPEN THE FIRST IMAGE</em>

The first image I provided was the image of this equation graphed: <span>y=2x+1

<em>OPEN THE SECOND IMAGE</em>

The second image I provided was the image of this equation graphed: </span><span>y=2x^2+1

<em>PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AT THE THIRD IMAGE YET!</em>

The first image has two points. One at ( -0.5, 0 ) and the other at ( 0, 1 ).

The second image has only one point, which is at ( 0, 1 ).

<em>OPEN THE THIRD IMAGE</em>

Now, when both are combined we see that they intersect at two points, which are ( 0, 1 ) and ( 1, 3 ).

So, our answer is...

<em>The ordered pairs that are the solution to the system are</em>  </span><span>( 0,1 ) and ( 1,3 ).

Hope this helped!

Tristan records the number of customers who visit the store each hour on a Saturday. His data representing the first seven hours
Alona [7]

Answer:

Option C is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have been given total 8 data

Data is : 12,15,18,20,23,23,28

Here, n=7

Median is \frac{n+1}{2}=\frac{7+1}{2}=4th term

Median is 20.

When one data is added n=8

The median of  even number of data is

median=\frac{\frac{n}{2}\text{th and}\frac{n}{2}+1\text{th}}{2}

Median is \frac{8}{2}\text{th and}\frac{8}{2}+1th

Median is 4\text{th and}5th

4th terms is 20

5th terms is 23

Since, median should not be change hence,

Median will be 20.

Therefore, option C is correct.

Prove the following statement.
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

You can prove this statement as follows:

Step-by-step explanation:

An odd integer is a number of the form 2k+1 where k\in \mathbb{Z}. Consider the following cases.

Case 1. If k is even we have: (2k+1)^{2}=(2(2s)+1)^{2}=(4s+1)^{2}=16s^2+8s+1=8(2s^2+s)+1.

If we denote by m=2s^2+2 we have that (2k+1)^{2}=8m+1.

Case 2. if k is odd we have: (2k+1)^{2}=(2(2s+1)+1)^{2}=(4s+3)^{2}=16s^2+24s+9=16s^{2}+24s+8+1=8(2s^{2}+3s+1)+1.

If we denote by m=2s^{2}+24s+1 we have that (2k+1)^{2}=8m+1

This result says that the remainder when we divide the square of any odd integer by 8 is 1.

Sally has 10 pounds she wants to buy 28 cans of soda which cost 28p each does she have enough money
Vladimir79 [104]

Answer:

Yes, Sally has enough money to buy 28 cans of soda.

Step-by-step explanation:

Yes, because £10 = 1000p

1000p / 28p = 35 cans

35 cans < 28 cans

So Sally has enough money for 28 cans.
