Their thinking is primarily defined by logical reasoning about actual situations without being affected by the appearance. During this stage, the children’s capacity to consciously and thoughtfully choose to achieve goals begins to appear.

According to Piagetian ways of thinking, the capacity to imagine the aftermath effect of an action without actually having to occur is seen as mental operation. During a mental operation, children thought of “what if” to better understand situation around them.  

At this stage, children begin to master addition and subtractions. They involve in using mental arithmetic in an operation.

A concrete operational thinker replaces intuitive reasoning with logical reasoning. Reasoning will be based on observable quantities and qualities, not the hypothetical. As and example , a concrete thinker would know that changing the shape of a lump of clay does not change how MUCH there is of the clay, as they can observer the clay.
