The problem solving approach of the concrete operational thinker is a logical approach.

If we have to relate the question with Piagetian cognitive development, then we would arrive to the fact that concrete operational thinker would use a logical approach in solving a particular problem. The third stage of Piagetian children cognitive development (concrete operational stage) involves logical reasoning.

Concrete operational thinker is the third stage of cognitive development. At this stage children thought are more flexible, logical and organized.

Their thinking is primarily defined by logical reasoning about actual situations without being affected by the appearance. During this stage, the children’s capacity to consciously and thoughtfully choose to achieve goals begins to appear.

According to Piagetian ways of thinking, the capacity to imagine the aftermath effect of an action without actually having to occur is seen as mental operation. During a mental operation, children thought of “what if” to better understand situation around them.  

At this stage, children begin to master addition and subtractions. They involve in using mental arithmetic in an operation.

In the concrete operational stage, children learn to group items into classification. They are also able to make conclusion but still been unable to reason deductively.
