A dog whistle uses a frequency higher than humans can normally hear. A pet owner wants to test his dog whistle. The owner has a

Answer: The driver should drive away from the pet owner.

Explanation:

The apparent frequency reduces when the source and listener are relatively moving away from each other and increases when they are moving towards each other. This from the Doppler's effect.  Thus, driver should drive away from the pet owner so that the apparent frequency decreases and can be heard by the pet owner.

Answer:

He should drive in the opposite direction of the owner.

Explanation:

This can be understood by the Doppler Effect. According to this effect the frequency of an approaching wave increase while the frequency of the wave will decrease if it recedes.

For example when you hear a siren of an ambulance, the pitch of the siren increase as it moves towards you because there is an increase in frequency. When the ambulance moves from you the pitch will decrease because the frequency of the sound wave from siren will decrease.

In the given case, to hear the sound of the whistle driver need to move away from it so that the frequency is decreased and he will be able to hear it. So the driver will need to drive in the opposite direction of the owner.

If a bicyclist, with initial velocity of zero, steadily gained speed until reaching a final velocity of 26m/s, how far would she
svetlana [45]

Answer:

34.45m

Explanation:

Using the equation of motion formula v² = u²+2as to get the distance travelled

v is the final velocity = 26m/s

u is the initial velocity = 0m/s

a is the acceleration due to gravity = 9.81m/s²

S is the distance travelled

Substituting the given values into the formula;

26² = 0²+2(9.81)s

676 = 0 + 19.62s

19.62s = 676

s = 676/19.62

s = 34.45m

Hence the distance she would travel during the race is 34.45m

A jetliner is moving at a speed of 245m/s. The vertical component of the plane's velocity is 40.6 m/s. Determine the magnitude o
Harman [31]

Answer:

Horizontal component of velocity = 241.61 m/s

Explanation:

Given that,

Velocity of a jetliner is 245 m/s

The vertical component of the plane's velocity is 40.6 m/s, v_y=40.6\ m/s

We need to find the magnitude of the horizontal component of the plane velocity.

The resultant velocity is given by :

v=\sqrt{v_x^2+v_y^2}

Where, v_x is the horizontal component of the plane velocity

v^2=v_x^2+v_y^2\\\\v_x^2=v^2-v_y^2\\\\v_x^2=(245)^2-(40.6)^2\\\\v_x=\sqrt{58376.64}\\\\v_x=241.61\ m/s

So, the magnitude of the horizontal component of the plane velocity is 241.61 m/s.
