Newton's rings are visible when a planoconvex lens is placed on a flat glass surface. For a particular lens with an index of ref

raction of n= 1.50 and a glass plate with an index of n= 1.80, the diameter of the third bright ring is 0.700 mm .If water = (1.33) now fills the space between the lens and the glass plate, what is the new diameter of this ring? Assume the radius of curvature of the lens is much greater than the wavelength of the light

Answer:

the new diameter of the third ring = 0.607 mm

Explanation:

Consider the radius of \\m ^{th}\\ bright ring when air is in between the lens and the plate ;

r = \sqrt {\frac{(2m+1)\lambda R}{2}}

Using the expression: r (n)= \sqrt {\frac{(2m+1)\lambda R}{2n}} for the radius of the  \\m ^{th}\\ bright ring since the liquid (water ) of the refractive index 'n' is now in between the lens and the plate;

where;

\\m ^{th}\\ = number of fringe

λ = wavelength

R = radius

n = refractive index of water

Now ;

r (n)=\frac {r}{n}}

the radius r of the third bright ring when the air is in between lens and plate = r= \frac{0.700 \ mm}{2} \\\\

r= 0.35 \ mm

The new radius of the third bright fringe is r(3) = \frac{0.35}{\sqrt 1.33}

r(3) = 0.3035 \ mm

Calculating the new diameter ; we have:

d(3) = 2(r(3))

d(3) = 2(0.3035)

d = 0.607 mm

Thus, the new diameter of the third ring = 0.607 mm

A major artery with a cross sectional area of 1.00cm^2 branches into 18 smaller arteries, each with an average cross sectional a
dybincka [34]

Here we can say that rate of flow must be constant

so here we will have

A_1v_1 = 18 A_2v_2

now we know that

A_1 = 1 cm^2

A_2 = 0.4 cm^2

now from above equation

1 cm^2 v_1 = 18(0.400 cm^2)v_2

\frac{v_2}{v_1} = \frac{1}{18\times 0.4}

\frac{v_2}{v_1} = 0.14

so velocity will reduce by factor 0.14

Answer:

1. a) Draw a line towards the right side from the engine

b) This force pushes the boat forward and helps it accelerate further

2. a) Fixed volume for both solid and liquid

Compressible for only solid

Fixed shape is also for only Solid

b) The answer is 'c'

c) Solids, because they have their particles closely packed therefore they can be compressed (not so sure bout this answer)

Assume that the mass has been moving along its circular path for some time. You start timing its motion with a stopwatch when it
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

v = R\omega(-sin\omega t \hat i + cos\omega t \hat j)

Explanation:

As we know that the mass is revolving with constant angular speed in the circle of radius R

So we will have

\theta = \omega t

now the position vector at a given time is

r = Rcos\theta \hat i + R sin\theta \hat j

now the linear velocity is given as

v = \frac{dr}{dt}

v = (-R sin\theta \hat i + R cos\theta \hat j)\frac{d\theta}{dt}

v = R\omega(-sin\omega t \hat i + cos\omega t \hat j)
