Answer:

Gamma decay

Explanation:

There are 3 types of radioactive decay:

- Alpha decay: in this decay, a nucleus emits an alpha particle (consisting of 2 protons and 2 neutrons, so a nucleus of helium). The alpha particle has a large charge (2e) and a large mass (4u), so it is strongly ionizing, and therefore loses energy faster while moving through matter, therefore its penetrating power is low (it can be easily stopped by a thin sheet of paper or by the skin)

- Beta decay: this decay occurs when a neutron in a nucleus turns into a proton, emitting a beta particle (a fast-moving electron) alongside with an antineutrino. The beta particle has a lower charge (e) and a smaller mass than the alpha particle, so it has a moderate penetrating power, being able to penetrate more than the alpha particle (the beta particle can be stopped by a thin sheet of aluminium)

- Gamma decay: this decay occurs when an excited nucleus decays emitting a gamma ray photon (which is electromagnetic energy with very high energy and frequency). The gamma ray photon has no charge and no mass, therefore it has the most penetrating power, being able to travel a much large distance before being absorbed by matter (several metres of concrete are required to stop gamma radiation.

So, the description in the question refers to gamma decay.

A rider on a bike with the combined mass of 100 kg attains a terminal speed of 15 m/s on a 12% slope. Assuming that the only for
vlabodo [156]

Answer:

0·95

Explanation:

Given the combined mass of the rider and the bike = 100 kg

Percent slope = 12%

∴ Slope = 0·12

Terminal speed = 15 m/s

Frontal area = 0·9 m²

Let the slope angle be β

tanβ = 0·12

As it attains the terminal speed, the forces acting on the combined rider and the bike must be balanced and therefore the rider must be moving download as the directions of one of the component of weight and drag force will be in opposite directions

The other component of weight will get balance by the normal reaction and you can see the figure which is in the file attached

From the diagram m × g × sinβ = drag force

Drag force = 0·5 × d × C_{D} × v² × A

where d is the density of the fluid through which it flows

C_{D} is the drag coefficient

v is the speed of the object relative to the fluid

A is the cross sectional area

As tanβ = 0·12

∴ sinβ = 0·119

Let the fluid in this case be air and density of air d = 1·21 kg/m³

m × g × sinβ = 0·5 × d × C_{D} × v² × A

100 × 9·8 ×0·119 = 0·5 × 1·21 × C_{D} × 15² × 0·9

∴ C_{D} ≈ 0·95

∴ Drag coefficient is approximately 0·95

The acceleration due to gravity on Earth is 9.81 m/s² [down]. A hockey puck was launched from the ice with a velocity of 50.0 m/
Gwar [14]

Answer:

0 m/s.

Explanation:

When an object is shot up into the air the only force acting on it is gravity while neglecting wind. As the gravity is acting on the object it keeps decelerating till its velocity becomes 0 after which it can go no further. The maximum height of the object is at this point.

So, at its maximum height the velocity of the puck will be zero.

In the modern atomic model the number of ________ in a neutral atom is the same as the number of protons.
MrRissso [65]

In the modern atomic model the number of electrons in a neutral atom is the same as the number of protons.

An atom contain, three fundamental particles, electron, proton, and neutron, neutron is charge less, there the charge of the atom is determined by the number of proton, and number of electron, Atoms are electrically neutral, it is only possible when number of electrons in an atom is equal to the number of proton.
