The acceleration due to gravity on Earth is 9.81 m/s² [down]. A hockey puck was launched from the ice with a velocity of 50.0 m/

s [up]. Assuming no friction, determine the velocity of the puck at its maximum height.

Answer:

0 m/s.

Explanation:

When an object is shot up into the air the only force acting on it is gravity while neglecting wind. As the gravity is acting on the object it keeps decelerating till its velocity becomes 0 after which it can go no further. The maximum height of the object is at this point.

So, at its maximum height the velocity of the puck will be zero.

How does having a sharp pointed beak limit what foods a bird can eat?
liraira [26]

Answer:

The shape of a bird's beak is a clue to its main source of food. The shape of a bird's beak is designed for eating particular types of food such as: seeds, fruit, insects, nectar, fish, or small mammals. Bird beaks have adapted over time to help birds find food within their habitat which allows them to survive. The beak, bill, and/or rostrum is an external anatomical structure found mostly in birds, but also in non-avian dinosaurs and some mammals. A beak is used for eating and for preening, manipulating objects, killing prey, fighting, probing for food, courtship and feeding young.

A ball of mass 2.0 kg falls vertically and hits the ground with speed 7.0 ms-1 as shown below.
Sauron [17]

Answer:

8.0 Ns

Explanation:

Change in momentum is given as:

Final momentum - Initial momentum

= m*v - m*u

Where m = mass of ball

v = final velocity

u = initial velocity

Change in momentum = (2.0 * 3.0) - (2.0 * 7.0)

= 6.0 - 14.0 = -8.0 Ns

The magnitude will be |-8.0| = 8.0 Ns

While goofing off at the ice skating rink, a student takes off her shoes and places each of them on the ice. Her friend, a hocke
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

Right shoe

Explanation:

Let the mass and velocity of incoming puck be m and v respectively.

Momentum of the colliding puck will be mv

In case of first case , the momentum of puck becomes zero so change in momentum after collision with left shoe

= mv - 0 = mv

If time duration of collision be t

rate of change of momentum

= mv / t

This is the force exerted by puck on the left shoe .

Now let us consider collision with right shoe

momentum after collision with right  shoe

- mv

change in momentum

= mv - ( - mv ) = 2mv

If time duration of collision be t

rate of change of momentum

= 2mv / t

This is the force exerted by puck on the right  shoe .

Since the force on the right shoe is more , this shoe will have greater speed

after collision.

how much energy is transferred when 1 gm of boiling water at 100 degree celcius condenses to water at 100 degree celcius?
Mademuasel [1]
The latent heat of vaporization for water is 2257 KJ per Kg . I'm pretty sure that's exactly the same as 2257 joules per gram. So ... When 1 gm of STEAM at 100 C condenses to 1 gm of liquid water at 100 C, it releases 2257 joules of heat energy to its environment.
