Remember that the slope intercept formula is:

y = mx + b

m is the slope (\frac{rise}{run})

b is the y-intercept

In this case the slope is...

\frac{-1}{3}

^^^This has a negative slope because the line is decreasing from left to right

The y-intercept is...

(0, -2)

so...

y = \frac{-1}{3}x - 2

Hope this helped!

Answer:

\large\boxed{y=-\dfrac{1}{3}x-2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope-intercept form of an equation of a line:

y=mx+b

<em>m</em><em> - slope</em>

<em>b</em><em> - y-intercept</em>

The formula of a slope:

m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

===========================================

From the graph we have x-intercept (-6, 0) and y-intercept (0, -2) → <em>b = -2</em>.

Calculate the slope:

m=\dfrac{-2-0}{0-(-6)}=\dfrac{-2}{6}=-\dfrac{1}{3}

Put the value of the slope <em>m = -1/3</em> and the value of the y-intercept <em>b = -2</em> to the equation of a line:

y=-\dfrac{1}{3}x-2

URGENT!!!! What is the distance from (−2, 4) to (0, −6)? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. 9.23 units 10.20 units 10.9
serg [7]
The distance between two points knowing theirs coordinates:

AB =√[(x₂-x₁)² +(y₂-y₁)²]; ===>A(-2,4) & B(0,-6) Given
                                              A(x₁,y₁) & B(y₂,y₁)

AB =√[(0-(-2))²+(-6-4)²] =√(104) = 10.198 ≈ 10.2

Given that the value of b can never be equal to -1, determine if the equations are intersecting, parallel, or coincident.
eimsori [14]
<h3>Answer: A) intersecting</h3>

-----------------------------------------------

Work Shown:

Solve the first equation for y

x+y = ab

y = -x+ab

y = -1x + ab

slope = -1, y intercept = ab

-----------

Solve for y in the second equation

bx - y = a

bx - y - a = 0

bx-a = y

y = bx - a

Slope = b, y intercept = -a

-----------

The first equation has a slope of -1. The second equation has a slope of b.

Since b cannot equal -1, this means the two equations have different slopes. It is impossible for these two lines to be parallel, because parallel lines have equal slopes. The different slope values tell us the lines cross at exactly one point.
