The answer can be found by squaring 6 which gives you 36 minus 30 because negative 5 times 6 is negative 30 so it would be 36-30-3 which is 3

Consider Functions F and G
Zanzabum

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given two functions:

\displaystyle f(x)=\frac{x-16}{x^2+6x-40}\text{ and } g(x)=\frac{1}{x+10}

And we want to find:

f(x)+g(x)

Thus:

\displaystyle =\frac{x-16}{x^2+6x-40}+\frac{1}{x+10}

We can factor the denominator of the first term:

\displaystyle =\frac{x-16}{(x+10)(x-4)}+\frac{1}{x+10}

In order to add the two terms, we must have a common denominator. To achieve this, we can multiply to second term by (x - 4). Therefore:

\displaystyle =\frac{x-16}{(x+10)(x-4)}+\frac{1}{x+10}\Big(\frac{x-4}{x-4}\Big)

Multiply:

\displaystyle =\frac{x-16}{(x+10)(x-4)}+\frac{x-4}{(x+10)(x-4)}

Combine:

\displaystyle =\frac{(x-16)+(x-4)}{(x+10)(x-4)}

Simplify:

\displaystyle =\frac{2x-20}{(x+10)(x-4)}

We can expand the denominator:

\displaystyle =\frac{2x-20}{x^2+6x-40}

Therefore, our answer is A.

Describe, in your own words, the identity sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1.
Crank

Look at the attached figure. We define the unit circle as a circle with center A in the origin (0,0) and radius 1.

Then, we consider a point P on the circumference. We call \alpha the angle between the positive half of the x axis and the radius AP.

We define

\cos(\alpha) = \overline{AD},\quad \sin(\alpha) = \overline{AC}

As you can see, ACD is a right triangle, and so we have

\overline{AD}^2+\overline{AC}^2=\overline{AP}^2

But since we know that AD is the cosine, AC is the sine, and AP is the radius (which is 1, and remains 1 when squared), we have just found out that

\cos(\alpha)^2+\sin(\alpha)^2=1
