When I look at the mirror closely, my legs look chubbier. When I put the mirror farthter away, my legs looks skinnier. Which one

is more likely to be more true?

I would say both because when you move close to the mirror then you get bigger. But, when you move father away then you get skinner. But, also depending on the kind of mirror you have then it would switch around, the closer you get the skinner you look or the father you get the big you look.

Its most likely that they looked more fatter because as you move away from an object this are not what they seem
