What always affects measurement error in an experiment

We can't 100% conclude on what will cause an error in an experiment every time, but we can explore a few possibilities. 

A common error in measurement would be not being on the same page. If scientists are collaborating on a global scale, someone may make the mistake of using a different kind of measuring system compared to their peers.

This is the reason why the metric system has been made the standardised system of measuring for all scientific investigations. It prevents confusion and error.

Another possibility of error would be a fatal flaw in one of the calculations. This could result in one small bug, which could then possibly plague the entire operation.
