These cultures are known as High-Context cultures.

Asian, Arab or Latin American countries are examples of cultures considered to be high-context cultures.

To communicate effectively in these cultures, one must have a considerable amount of background information on the subject being discussed.

Several factors can be easily identified in most of the high-context cultures:

Interaction: It plays a fundamental role, as the nonverbal elements are vital to understanding each other. The voice tone, facial expressions, and even the eye movements can completely change the meaning of a sentence.

Association: A relationship takes time to develop, and depends heavily on trust. People's identities are strongly bounded to groups such as family, workplace, friends, etc.

Answer:

Cultivation theory examines the long-term effects of television.

The primary proposition of cultivation theory states that the more time people spend 'living' in the television world, the more likely they are to believe social reality aligns with reality portrayed on television. That means the reproduction of the same stereotypes that were find before in less channels began to grow to a point in which a person could easily surround him/herself in that reality.

Eduardwww [97]

This makes Rudy feel good about himself and his group. This is the ego-defensive function of stereotypes.

  • The functional theory of attitudes includes it as one of the functions of attitudes.
  • The term "ego-defensive function" refers to having beliefs that defend our self-worth or that provide an explanation for behaviors that make us feel bad.
  • Children may, for instance, develop a profoundly unfavorable attitude toward all sports as a means of defending themselves against the feelings of humiliation they have encountered in P.E. sessions.

<h3>What are the 4 functions of attitude?</h3>
  • The four crucial roles that attitudes play are: (1) the knowledge function; (2) the ego defensive function; (3) the value expressing function; and (4) the adjustment function.
