My mom gave me a Kool Action game for my birthday on October 27, 2010, and I was SO excited. When I opened it, I could see that

parts were missing, so we went back to the store and tried to return it. They said tough luck and wouldn't even talk to us. Now, I'm writing to you to try and get my money back so I can get something else for my birthday that actually works. Mom said it cost $109.99, but we spent a lot of time trying to get it returned, so I think you should send me at leat $125.00. Besides, it was for my birthday!
The passage above is excerpted from the body of a letter of complaint. Which statement evaluates the effectiveness of this passage best?

The letter is well written, using appropriate tone and specific details.
The tone of the letter is too informal and lacks details needed for a good resolution.
The writer should be given more money because it was a birthday gift.

I believe the correct answer would be choice B. The tone of the letter is too formal and lacks details needed for a good resolution.

I took it as too impersonal and to some people, I feel like it could come across as a little abrupt and a bit rude.

I hope this helps you and have a great day!! :)

You raise me up lyrics
Sauron [17]

Answer:

When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary

When troubles come, and my heart burdened be

Then, I am still and wait here in the silence

Until you come and sit awhile with me

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains

You raise me up to walk on stormy seas

I am strong when I am on your shoulders

You raise me up to more than I can be

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains

You raise me up to walk on stormy seas

I am strong when I am on your shoulders

You raise me up to more than I can be

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains

You raise me up to walk on stormy seas

I am strong when I am on your shoulders

You raise me up to more than I can be

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains

You raise me up to walk on stormy seas

I am strong when I am on your shoulders

You raise me up to more than I can be

You raise me up to more than I can be

Read this excerpt from Act III, scene iv of Romeo and Juliet. Paris: These times of woe afford no time to woo. 10 Madam, good-ni
Arisa [49]
It conflicts because of how their parents are trying to arrange the marriage of Juliet and Paris, but she wants to be with Romeo. It connects to the tragic love theme that Juliet can not be with who she wants.

Read the passage from "The Lady, or the Tiger.”
My name is Ann [436]

This question is missing the answer choices. I was able to find the complete question online. The choices are the following:

A. to reveal that the outcome of the trial is decided by luck.

B. to show that the verdict is predetermined.

C. to reveal that the defendants are in control of the verdict.

D. to emphasize that the trial is completely fair.

Answer:

The author's purpose for describing the two doors as absolutely identical is:

A. to reveal that the outcome of the trial is decided by luck.

Explanation:

"The Lady, or the Tiger" is a short story by American author and humorist Frank Richard Stockton (18340-1902). In the story, a king is described as semi-barbaric, which shows he is only partially civilized. He understands the importance of a trial to decide whether someone is guilty of a crime or not. However, the trial he comes up with is absurd, and the outcome is decided by sheer luck.

The person being accused of the crime is led to an arena. There, he is supposed to choose between two doors. Behind one of them, he will find a beautiful maiden. Behind the other one, he will find a tiger. The doors are completely identical - nothing about them reveals what is behind them. Thus, it is really a matter of luck whether the man will choose the lady or the tiger. If he chooses the door with the maiden, he is found innocent, and his reward is to marry her immediately. If he chooses the door with the tiger, he is found guilty, and his punishment is to be eaten by the animal.

As we can see, it does not matter whether the person really committed a crime or not. What matters is how lucky he is to choose to right door.
