w² + w = 30

w² + w - 30 = 0

w² + 6w - 5w - 30 = 0

w(w + 6) -5(w + 6) = 0 

(w + 6)(w - 5) = 0

w = 5 or -6

Since the width cannot be negative, the width is 5 units.

Hence, the width is 5 units and the length is 6 units.
