The distance between the points (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂):
d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

(-10,3) \\
x_1=-10 \\ y_1=3 \\ \\ (-10,12) \\ x_2=-10 \\ y_2=12 \\ \\
d=\sqrt{(-10+10)^2+(12-3)^2}=\sqrt{0+9^2}=\sqrt{9^2}=9

Another method:
The points have the same x-coordinate so they lie on the same line. y-coordinates are positive so you just subtract 3 from 12. See the picture in the attachment.

The answer is 9.

The way to solve it can be shorter :)
Just look, that  these points have got the same x-coordinate,
so they lie  on the same line, which is parallel to the OY axis,
So  your taks is only  find different  in y-coordinate. That is
12-3 = 9
And this is answer :)

Find the center and radius for the circles with the following equation x^2+y^2-4x+6y+11=0
Vera_Pavlovna [14]
Rearrange x²+y²-4x+6y=-11 I'll tell you an easy way. take the coefficient of x and divide it by -2 and the coefficient of y and divide it by -2  so -4 ÷-2 = 2           6÷-2= -3 (2,-3) is the center of the circle to know the radius √2² + -3² + -11  =√2  The Radius equals √2

Graph the following quadratic function using transformations
lorasvet [3.4K]
You start with the basic y=x^2.
That’s the parabola with a vertex at (0,0), opening up, etc.

The transformation aspect is the “+7” portion. This “+7” shifts the entire graph of y=x^2 up by 7 units.
The vertex is now (0,7), it still opens up, etc.

It’s kind of a silly question for your teacher to ask when the graph given only goes up to 6.
