The square all the way on the left the area would be 88 because  11 x 8 = 88. Then the middle square's area would be 165 because 15 x 11 is 165. Then the right square's area is 187 because 11 x 17 is 187. If you add all of those it is 440. then for the triangles, the width would be 15 and the hight would be about 11 so 1/2 x b x h = 1/2 x 15 x 11 = 15 x 5.5 = 82.5. 82.5 + 440 is 522.5. So 522.5 is your answer hope this helps.

Think of the three rectangles as a single large rectangle and find its area.

For the large rectangle made up of the three small rectangles:
Length = 8 cm + 15 cm + 17 cm = 40 cm
Width = 11 cm

area = length * width

area = 40 cm * 11 cm

area = 440 cm^2

Select the equation in point-slope form for the line that passes through the point (1, –1) and has a slope of 4.
Dvinal [7]

Answer:

\large \boxed{y + 1 = 4(x - 1)}

Step-by-step explanation:

The point-slope formula for a straight line is

y - y₁= m(x - x₁)

x₁ = 1; y₁ = -1; m = 4

Substitute the values

\begin{array}{rcl}y - (-1) & = & 4(x - 1)\\y + 1 & = & 4(x - 1)\\\end{array}\\\text{The equation for the line in point-slope form is $\large \boxed{\mathbf{y + 1 = 4(x - 1)}}$}

The figure shows the graph of the equation with slope 4 passing through (1, -1).

the length of a rectangle is five feet less than its width. If the area of the rectangle is 84 square feet, find its dimensions
KIM [24]
Let
x---------> the length of the rectangle
y--------> the width of the rectangle

we know that
A=84 ft²
[area of rectangle]=x*y-----> 84=x*y-----> equation 1
x=y-5------> equation 2
substitute 2 in 1
84=[y-5]*y-----> 84=y²-5y---------> y²-5y-84=0

using a graph tool-----> to resolve the second order equation
see the attached figure

the solution is
y=12
x=y-5-----> x=12-5-----> x=7

the answer is
the length of the rectangle is 7 ft
the width of the rectangle is 12 ft
