Sound can be either a transverse or a longitudinal wave. When sound travels through liquids or gases it is considered a longitudinal wave but when sound passes through a solid it is considered a transverse wave. If sound is just travelling through the air then it is just a longitudinal wave.

If a 58 g sample of metal at 100 c is placed into calorimeter containing 60g of water at 18 c , the temperature of the water inc
tatiyna

Answer:

The water will absorb 1004.16 Joule of heat

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Mass of the metal = 58.00 grams

Temperature of the metal = 100.00 °C

Mass of water = 60.00 grams

Temperature of water = 18.00 °C

Final temperature = 22.00 °C

Specific heat of water = 4.184 J/g°C

Step 2: Calculate the amount of heat absorbed by the water in joules

Q = mass *specific heat *ΔT

 ⇒ with Q = the heat absorbed by water

⇒ with mass of water = 60.00 grams

⇒ with specific heat of water = 4.184 J/g°C

⇒ with ΔT = The change in temperature of water = T2 - T1 = 22 - 18 = 4.0 °C

Q = 60.00 * 4.184 J/g°C * 4.0 °C

Q = 1004.16 J

The water will absorb 1004.16 Joule of heat

Why is oil unable to dissolve well in water? Water is polar and oil is nonpolar, which means they have no attraction for each ot
Marat540 [252]
Because water is polar and oil is nonpolar, their molecules are not attracted to each other. The molecules of a polar solvent like water are attracted to other polar molecules, such as those of sugar. This explains why sugar has such a high solubility in water. Ionic compounds, such as sodium chloride, are also highly soluble in water. Because water molecules are polar, they interact with the sodium and chloride ions. In general, polar solvents dissolve polar solutes, and nonpolar solvents dissolve nonpolar solutes. This concept is often expressed as “Like dissolves like.” So many substances dissolve in water that it is sometimes called the universal solvent. Water is considered to be essential for life because it can carry just about anything the body needs to take in or needs to get rid of.

An electrically neutral atom has an atomic mass of 30.973 and an atomic number of 15. How many neutrons does this atom have?____
Serggg [28]

Answer: 16 neutrons

Explanation: The atomic number for any element is the number of protons in its atomic nuclei. In a neutral atom, the number of electrons are the same as the number of protons. The atomic mass (mass number) is the sum of the protons and neutrons in the nucleus. Mass number can vary due to the fact that the number of neutrons can vary. Isotopes are named for their mass numbers.

So, this element has 15 protons (atomic number), 15 electrons, and 16 neutrons (mass number minus atomic number).

This isotope is phosphorus-31, which has atomic number 15.
