The Snow Sports Club from Sierra High School is boarding the tram at Heavenly Valley to ride up to the top of the mountain. The

tram conductor charges $10 for each member and $1 for each snowboard. Some members are just enjoying the ride up and don't have snowboards. The conductor collected $179. The number of members riding the tram is one less than twice the number of snowboards. How many club members and how many snowboards ride up on the tram?

The answer would be 17 people and 9 snowboards because the problem states "<span>The number of members riding the tram is one less than twice the number of snowboards.</span>" that means that if you multiply the number of snowboards by 2 (which is 18) and subtract 1 you will get the number of people (which is 17) also if you look at the number it is $179 you can multiply 17 by 10 you get 170 and 9 snowboards makes 179 so there is your answer.

Help is needed!!! please
Ede4ka [16]

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 2 ways to look at this. I will explain both.

First we have the 3-4-5 triangle method, stating that any triangle with sides 3 and 4 will have the last side as 5.

Now, for the more complex way of doing this, we can use the Pythagorean theorem to solve this problem.

Pythagorean theorem: a^2+b^2=c^2

We can use 4 for a and 3 for b

You will now have

4^2+3^2=c^2\\\\16+9=c^2\\25=c^2

Then take √25, or 5.

4’1” - 1’ 10” whats is
cluponka [151]

Since inches are out of 12 this would be

4 ft - 1 ft = 3 ft

3' 1" - 1 " = 3 '

3 feet is also 2 ft and 12 inches

2' 12" - 9 " = 2' 3"

So the answer is 2 feet and 3 inches

Hope this helps
