Is matrix multiplication comutative?

Mathematics

Answer:

Matrix multiplication is not conmutative

Step-by-step explanation:

The matrix multiplication can be performed if the number of columns of the first matrix is equal to the number of rows of the second matrix

Let A with dimension mxn and B with dimension nxp represent two matrix

The multiplication of A by B is a matrix C with dimension mxp, but the multiplication of B by A is can't be calculated because the number of columns of B is not the number of rows of A. Therefore, you can notice that is not conmutative in general.

But even if the multiplication of AB and BA is defined (For example if A and B are squared matrix of 2x2) the multiplication is not necessary conmutative.

The matrix multiplication result is a matrix which entries are given by dot product of the corresponding row of the first matrix and the corresponding column of the second matrix:

A=\left[\begin{array}{ccc}a11&a12\\a21&a22\end{array}\right]\\B= \left[\begin{array}{ccc}b11&b12\\b21&b22\end{array}\right]\\AB = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}a11b11+a12b21&a11b12+a12b22\\a21b11+a22b21&a21b12+a22b22\end{array}\right]\\\\BA=\left[\begin{array}{ccc}b11a11+b12a21&b11a12+b12a22\\b21a11+b22ba21&b21a12+b22a22\end{array}\right]

Notice that in general, the result is not the same. It could be the same for very specific values of the elements of each matrix.

Are the fractions 3/9, 3/10, 3/11, and 3/12 in order from least to greatest
Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

The fractions \frac{3}{9},\frac{3}{10},\frac{3}{11},\frac{3}{12} are not in order from least to greatest.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given order of fractions from least to greatest:

\frac{3}{9},\frac{3}{10},\frac{3}{11},\frac{3}{12}

To check if the fractions are in correct order.

Solution:

The fractions given have same numerators but different denominators.

For fractions the higher the denominator the lower is the value of that fraction.

Thus, in the given list the least value fraction will be the fraction with the greatest denominator which is \frac{3}{12} and the greatest value fraction will be the fraction with the least denominator which is \frac{3}{9}

So, the order of the fractions from least to greatest is not correct. Instead the order is from greatest to least.

The correct order from least to greatest should be:

\frac{3}{12},\frac{3}{11},\frac{3}{10},\frac{3}{9}.

The length of a rectangle is four more than three times the width. If the perimeter of this rectangle is at least 70 square cent
ankoles [38]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let L represent the length of the triangle.

Let W represent the width of the triangle.

The length of a rectangle is four more than three times the width. This means that

L = 3W + 4

The formula for determining the perimeter of a rectangle is expressed as

Perimeter = 2(L + W)

If the perimeter of this rectangle is at least 70 square centimeters, an inequality that can be solved to find the width of the rectangle is

2(L + W) ≥ 70

L + W ≥ 70/2

L + W ≥ 35

In the diagram below what is the approximate length of the minor arc XY
GalinKa [24]
The answer is B.

The formula for arc length is s = r(theta) Theta must be in radians, so convert 40 degrees to radians, which is 2pi/9. Multiply 2pi/9 by the radius, 9, and then you'll get the answer. Hopes this helps!
