Gamma radiation (γ) is a type of radiation (with high penetrating power) in which the nucleus of the atom is disintegrated but does not cause a change in the atomic number and mass number of the atom. Example of this radiation is below

From the equation above, it can be deduced that the atomic number remains the same after this emission.
