Sophia’s intelligence level is likely to be more similar to her biological mother because even though she may be living with her adoptive mother, it does not mean that her intellect may be as same as her adoptive mother because of the fact that she is likely to inherit some characteristics and her appearance from her real parents.

both of these events had to do with the expansion of the US territory. which is one way that Manifest Destiny is realized (the war with Mexico was over Mexico's acceptance of Texas as a part of the US).
