He gave 75 CDs away and that was 6% of his collection.
⇒ 6% = 75

Find 1 %:
6% = 75
1% = 75 ÷ 6 = 12.5

Find 100% (100% being his full collection):
1% = 12.5
100% = 12.5 x 100 = 1250

Answer: He had 1250 CDs before he gave some away.
