Which of the following is an odd function?
Komok [63]

Given:

f(x)=x^{3}+5 x^{2}+x

f(x)=\sqrt{x}

f(x)=x^{2}+x

f(x)=-x

To find:

The odd function.

Solution:

If f(-x) = -f(x), then the function is odd.

If f(-x) = f(x), then the function is even.

Option A: f(x)=x^{3}+5 x^{2}+x

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=(-x)^{3}+5 (-x)^{2}+(-x)

          =-x^3+5x^2-x

          =-(x^3-5x^2+x)

          ≠ - f(x)

It is not odd function.

Option B: f(x)=\sqrt{x}

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=\sqrt{-x}

          =\sqrt{x} i   (Since \sqrt{-1} =i)

          ≠ - f(x)

It is not odd function.

Option C: f(x)=x^{2}+x

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=(-x)^{2}+(-x)

          =x^2-x

          =-(-x^2+x)

          ≠ - f(x)

It is not odd function.

Option D: f(x)=-x

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=-(-x)

          =-f(x)

It is odd function.

Therefore, f(x) = -x is an odd function.

Which information can you read from an equation that is written in slope-intercept form?
Soloha48 [4]
The slope.

slope-intercept form is y= mx + b

Where:

mx is the slope
and b is the y-intercept.

Since the y-intercept isn’t an option, the correct answer would be slope.

What is the surface area of the box
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

<u>360 in²</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

Surface Area of the box = 2(lb+bh+hl)

                                        = 2(12×6 + 6×6 + 6×12)

                                        = 2(72 + 36 + 72)

                                        = 2(180)

                                        = <u>360 in²</u>

<u />

Therefore D is the right answer.
