Two cars collide in a collision. Which of the following best explains whether or not the atoms in the cars actually make contact

?
The atoms make physical contact. The contact then repels the atoms apart causing the cars to bounce away after the collision.

The atoms do not make physical contact. Instead, there is an attractive electric force that acts at a distance.

The answer is A. The atoms make physical contact. The contact then repels the atoms apart causing the cars to bounce away after the collision. Cars are made up of solid matter, matter is made up atoms. When two cars collide, its forces are are opposite each other thus repulsion is experience, the greater force will determine the course of movement after collision.

Answer:

Concrete

Explanation:

The speed at which sound propagates is medium dependent. As one of the forms of mechanical waves, sound requires a material medium for propagation from place to place.

  • Sound travels with the least speed in air because air particles are far apart and they are randomized.
  • Sound travels with the greatest speed in solids. Concrete is the only solid material given in the choice.

The speed of sound increases from air to liquid and to solid.

Answer:

c. 2 m/s

Explanation:

The speed of a wave is given by:

v=f \lambda

where

v is the speed of the wave

f is the frequency

\lambda is the wavelength

For the wave in this problem, we have

f = 4 Hz is the frequency

\lambda = 0.5 m is the wavelength

So, the speed of the wave is

v=(4 Hz)(0.5 m)=2 m/s
