Answer:

3. A. 173.1 Million people.

   B. 26.4 Million people.

Step-by-step explanation:

3. A.

1: 33.89+110.65 = 144.54 Total pop. of Mexico and Canada.

2: 317.64-144.54 = 173.1 million.

Population of the United States minus the total population of Mexico and Canada as found before.

B.

1: Entire Population of Canada plus 30.81 mil for population overage.

33.89+30.81 = 64.7

2: The population of Canada and the defined 2 states minus the given population of one of the states.

64.7-38.3 = 26.4 million people.

Part a is simple just add Mexico and Canada together then take then the formula is US-Mexico and Canada explain my saying how you figured it out

part b is a little more complicated but basically the entire population of Canada is 33.89 million people and the 2 most populated states are 30.81 times greater then the entire population of Canada so first you add that with Canada’s total population and you get 64.7 million now we know the most populated city in the us is 38.3 million so you go 64.7-38.3 and you get 26.4 million for the second most populated state

Which ordered pairs are on the line with equation 3x-y=2.
Juli2301 [7.4K]

The ordered pair (0 , -2) lies on the line with equation 3 x - y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

To prove that a point lies on a line

  • Substitute x and y in the equation by the coordinates of the point
  • If the two sides of the equation equal each other, then the point lies on the line
  • If the two sides of the equation not equal each other then the point does't lie on the line

The equation of the line is 3 x - y = 2

a) Point (0 , -2)

∵ x = 0 and y = -2

- Substitute the values of x and y in the left hand side

∵ The left hand side is 3 x - y

∵ 3(0) - (-2) = 0 + 2 = 2

∴ The left hand side = 2

∵ The right hand side = 2

∴ The two sides of the equation are equal

∴ The ordered pair (0 , -2) lies on the line

b) Point (-3 , 4)

∵ x = -3 and y = 4

- Substitute the values of x and y in the left hand side

∵ The left hand side is 3 x - y

∵ 3(-3) - (4) = -9 - 4 = -13

∴ The left hand side = -13

∵ The right hand side = 2

∴ The two sides of the equation are not equal

∴ The ordered pair (-3 , 4) doesn't lie on the line

c) Point (1 , -5)

∵ x = 1 and y = -5

- Substitute the values of x and y in the left hand side

∵ The left hand side is 3 x - y

∵ 3(1) - (-5) = 3 + 5 = 8

∴ The left hand side = 8

∵ The right hand side = 2

∴ The two sides of the equation are not equal

∴ The ordered pair (1 , -5) doesn't lie on the line

The ordered pair (0 , -2) lies on the line with equation 3 x - y = 2

Please find x! Thank you, only if you know!
ikadub [295]

Answer:

\boxed {\boxed {\sf x \approx 23.49 \ cm }}

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a right triangle (the small square in the corner signifies a 90 degree angle), so Pythagorean Theorem can be used.

a^{2} + b^{2} =c^{2}

where a and b are the legs of the triangle and c is the hypotenuse. In this triangle, 17 and x are the legs because they form the right angle. 29 in the hypotenuse because it is opposite the right angle.

a= 17 \\b=x \\c= 29

17^{2} + x^{2} =29^{2}

Solve the exponents.

  • 17²=17*17=289
  • 29²= 29*29=841

289+x^{2} =841

289 is being added to x and the inverse is subtraction. Subtract 289 from both sides to isolate the variable.

289-289+ x^{2} =841-289\\x^{2} =552

x is being squared and the inverse is a square root. Take the square root of both sides of the equation.

\sqrt {x^{2} }=\sqrt {552}

x=23.4946802489

Let's round to the nearest hundredth. The 4 in the thousandth place tells us to leave the 9.

x \approx 23.49

x is approximately 23.49 centimeters.
