A) (shirts) 12 multiplied by 3 is 36. (jeans) 19 multiplied by 2 is 38. 38 plus 36 equals 74. 74 minus 3 is 71. her total is 71 dollars

B) (shirts) 9 multiplied by 3 is 27. 16 multiplied by 2 is 32. 27 plus 32 is 59.

C) well there is obviously a difference between 71 and 59. 71 minus 59 is 12 dollars.

D) if i was the owner i would say "3 dollars off TOTAL purchase".

Finger [1]

Multiply the first bracket by -2

Multiply the second bracket by 2

x-3-12+4x= 4x-10

- negative number times + positive number= - negative number

- negative number times -negative number = + positive number

x+ 4x-3-12= 4x-10

5x-15= 4x-10

Move 4x to the other side

5x-4x-15= 4x-4x-10

x-15= -10

Move -15 to the other side

x-15+15= -10+15
