The first thing to do is turn this into an equation:
2/3 ÷ 10

10 as a fraction is 10/1
2/3 ÷ 10/1 =

Fractional division is just fractional multiplication after switching the numerator and the denominator of the second fraction:
2/3 X 10/1

Fractional multiplication is simply multiplying the numerators by each other, and the denominators by each other:
2 X 10 = 20
3 X 1 = 3

20/3

Each piece of liquorice will be 20/3 or 6 2/3 of a yard long.

Graph the function y = x3 + 6x2 + 2x – 11. Based on the graph, what is the largest possible x-value if y = 0?
professor190 [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph is done using Desmos. Just by substitution x = 1 will force the graph to go to y = 0, but graphs are not always that good. This one gets 1.111

to get y = 0. I'd use 1 if you had to answer it and a computer will mark it.

Eva8 [605]

Answer:

10

Step-by-step explanation:

Substitute n for 10, 11 and 13

45 - 10 = 35

45 - 11 = 34

45 - 12 = 33

The answer is ten because when substituting n for 10, the equation

35 = 45 - 10

is true

The discriminant of a quadratic equation is equal to -8, which statement describes the roots?
Maslowich

Answer:

  (a)  There are two complex roots

Step-by-step explanation:

The discriminant of a quadratic function describes the nature of its roots:

  • <u>negative</u>: two complex roots
  • <u>zero</u>: one real root (multiplicity 2)
  • <u>positive</u>: two distinct real roots.

__

Your discriminant of -8 is <em>negative</em>, so it indicates ...

  There are two complex roots

_____

<em>Additional comment</em>

We generally study polynomials with <em>real coefficients</em>. These will never have an odd number of complex roots. Their complex roots always come in conjugate pairs.
